General Statement of Job Duties

Under direct supervision, is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of operational equipment used in the treatment of water to make it potable. Adjusts water treatment equipment and applies and monitors chemical applications in the treatment of water. Reports to the Filter Plant Superintendent

Minimum Training & Experience

Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented. At least six months of mechanical maintenance, water distribution or water treatment experience is preferred. Must have a strong technical aptitude and proficiency in math and science. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must possess a valid state driver’s license.  The ability to obtain an “D” Water Treatment Plant Operator license within 1 year of hire and a “C” within 2 years. Failure to obtain licensure requirements may result in termination.
