Additional Repairs & Boil Water Extension

Chester Metropolitan will begin work on the second set of repairs to the 30” water main in the Fort Lawn area at approximately 1:00 PM today, November 13, 2019. CMD crews are on-site preparing for the arrival of the custom-made repair clamp.

The water filtration plant will be taken offline at approximately 1:00 PM and crews will drain the 30” main at the repair site. The repair work is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM, and the system is expected to return to full service by 6:30 PM this evening.

Service will be interrupted for residents and businesses between the water filtration plant and US Hwy 21 only. CMD does not anticipate a loss of service for any other parts of our service area.

During this repair activity, CMD asks all customers to conserve water to the best of their ability while our water filtration plant is offline.

Additional bacteriological testing will take place following the repair, and the Boil Water Notice will be extended until passing results are received. Customers may continue to notice discolored water as a result of the repairs for the next few days. Severely discolored water should be reported to the CMD office by calling (803) 385-5123.

CMD asks all customers to check our website and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/chestermetropolitandistrict for regular updates.
